It's all starting to come together!

Well we ordered our rings on Saturday!!! Quite excited about that, can’t wait for them to come in.

I’ve written most of the invitations and posted the ones that needed posting. That took quite a lot of tip toeing around the family politics as there has been a big fall out between me & one of my cousins. I still want her brother & sister to come so I’ve had to invite their parents, I’m hoping they wont come but I suppose if they do I’ll be having far too good a time on the day to worry and at least I’ve come off looking like the bigger person. Also inviting my Grandma who has dementia and keeping everything crossed she doesn’t get much worse before November. I’m going to see one of my Aunties at the weekend to ask if she’ll look after Grandma on the day as I don’t want her getting all confused and upset and doubt my Mum or I will have enough time to spend with her.

I’ve just got to get Gareth to get in touch with the friends he wants to invite not as we haven’t got a clue where any of them live!!!

Put an RSVP date on of 6th August so they’ve all got plenty of time to get back to me, I’m going to try and take a hard line with those that don’t and just assume that they aren’t coming but I don’t know how well that will go down with Gareth!

Ok still to do:

Find a bridesmaid dress
Find shoes for me & my bridesmaid
Favours
Table cameras
Seating plan
Buy some decent makeup (my friend is doing hair & makeup)
Figure out what I want to do with my hair
Balloons & Decorations
Finalise the menu
Organise thank you gifts
Finalise what flowers I want
Get cakes from M&S and get them decorated
Music for the ceremony & reception
Make a list of everywhere I need to change my name
Sort out someone to cat sit while we’re on honeymoon

I also need to talk to the registry office as I’m really worrying about guests seeing me when I arrive so I want to see if they have any suggestions on that one. I think we probably need to go and meet them anyway as I have some questions about music and vows and stuff.

Keep your fingers crossed for lots of RSVP's, I'll post again when I have an update!

Tuesday 22nd May 2007

We now have less than six months and until today I was really starting to panic. I booked today off to go into Nottingham with my bridesmaid and order my dress. Also got the contract from the photographer yesterday so that’s been signed & sent back.
We went and ordered that (see below 1) but I’ve now really got to stick to my diet as I need to lose two inches around my waist before it comes in September. Going to go to the toning tables as well, hope it works!!!
We had a major stress about our rings last week as they came into the jewellers at a lot more than we had ordered them for. Neither of us were too happy with that or the service we received. Gareth’s been looking at more and found a pair he really liked in H.Samuels so I went and had a look, fell in love with them on the spot so think we’re going back at the weekend to order them.
Had a wander down to BHS and discovered that the waistcoats and cravats I really liked were being sold off half price as they’re getting new stock. It must have been quite funny to watch me & my bridesmaid standing around trying to get hold of all the men to find out their chest sizes while protecting the last few waistcoats!! But we got there in the end and now have them all apart from one I’ve had to order off the internet but that should come soon, now that’s me & all of the men well on our way to being sorted! I’ve now got a major stress trying to find a lilac bridesmaid dress, you would think that would be simple but either the shops don’t do bridesmaid/ballgown type dresses, they’re not doing anything resembling lilac or the lilac is nowhere near the right shade to match the trim & stitching on my dress.
So now I really feel like I’ve had a productive (and very tiring) day, think I might finally have got the hang of this planning lark! Still got loads to do but I’m not going to dwell on that, I’ll update you over the next few weeks.

Dress but it will have lilac (although it’s called lavender) trim & stitching

‘Our’ rings

Ignore the woman this is the waistcoat!!
We have Groom, Best Man, Father of the Bride, Father of the Groom in them as well as our two young nephews (our pageboys) who will be 3 ½ and 1 when we get married.
